Painting The Doors Inside Your Home: How To Get This Job Done Quickly

Constance Cunningham

When you set out to paint the interior doors of your home, it may seem like a great idea, but when you realize how many doors you actually have, you may start to regret this idea. Consider how many doors you have and then consider that you have to paint the front and back of these doors, so now you went from a lot of doors and doubled it. If you have doors in your home that need to be painted, you can get it done and get it done quickly if done properly. Read on for helpful information.

Tools For The Job:

  • Angled paintbrush
  • Roller
  • Paint
  • Painter's Tape

Instructions:

  1. To start, you should clean your doors to remove any dust that has built up with time. If your doors have inlays in them, you need to be sure to get into the cracks and crevices of the door to remove as much of the dirt and grime as possible. Some doors may be dirtier than others, so wipe them all down thoroughly.
  2. Once the doors are clean, you can begin taping off the door handles and hinges to prevent getting paint on them. Be sure to use painter's tape, which will not cause harm to these areas and will prevent paint from soaking through.
  3. Use the angled paintbrush to paint the edges of the door that your roller may not be able to get to without causing the paint to get onto surfaces where you do not want it to get onto. Paint the inlays and get into the small cracks and crevices of the door with the paintbrush. Watch for drip marks and catch them immediately before they dry onto the door.
  4. Use the paint roller to roll the paint onto the other surfaces of the door and to blend in the brush marks. The roller can help make this paint job go much quicker, but you need to use enough paint to cover the surface, but not too much that you end up with roller marks. Blend in the paint thoroughly and allow it to dry. Paint starting at the top and then move your way down the door.
  5. Allow the door to dry completely and then check your work. Add a second coat if necessary.

If your doors are in need of some new life, you can paint them to give your entire home a cleaner feel and a new look. Painting the doors throughout your home can be a major task. Hire a professional painter to get this job done for you.

They talked with me about everything I could do in order to streamline the process, and it was absolutely incredible to see how brilliantly the painting job progressed. I wanted to start a blog all about understanding painting rules, so check out this great website. You won't believe how much there is to it!
